Hydrogen development is accelerating across Europe. Finland and the Netherlands are now strengthening their cooperation to build integrated industrial value chains for green hydrogen, combining technological expertise, market development and investment power.
During the Business Forum Netherlands & Finland, the Finnish Hydrogen Cluster and NLHydrogen formalized their collaboration in the presence of high-level government representatives from both countries. The agreement reflects a shared ambition: to accelerate the European hydrogen economy through concrete industrial cooperation.

From Strategy to Industrial Reality
The partnership is already translating into tangible projects.
Finland’s first industrial-scale green hydrogen production plant in Harjavalta, operated by P2X Solutions, marks an important milestone. As part of this project, VONK supplied advanced power electronics to convert high-voltage grid electricity into the stable low-voltage DC power required by electrolyzers.
Four 5 MW power supply units from VONK’s NEYA platform form the electrical backbone of the installation. Designed for compact integration, efficiency and scalability, the systems enable reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.
Why Finland Is a Strategic Hydrogen Market
Finland offers a strong foundation for hydrogen development:
- Abundant renewable electricity
- Industrial integration opportunities
- Political commitment to green transition
- A stable and predictable investment climate
For technology providers and industrial partners, this creates an attractive environment for long-term collaboration.
Cultural alignment also plays a role. Finnish and Dutch companies share a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset, a valuable asset when executing complex energy projects at scale.
Complementary Strengths
The cooperation between the two hydrogen clusters brings together over 130 companies across the value chain, from production and infrastructure to logistics and industrial applications.
Finland contributes renewable energy capacity and industrial integration. The Netherlands strengthens the partnership as a European energy and logistics hub with deep expertise in hydrogen infrastructure and international trade.
Together, both countries are positioning themselves as a strong European hydrogen alliance, accelerating innovation, building supply chains and creating market demand.
