Helix Type Wind Turbine

Why should you choose a helix-type turbine as a renewable energy solution?

In addition to solar and wave, the generation of renewable energy in the VONK hybrid power system can also be efficiently achieved with helix type wind turbines, with the most advanced and reliable design of vertical axis wind technology.

Harnessing wind power for commercial operations in a compact scale has always been a challenge. At VONK, we continue to find the right power solution for our clients. We have a range of vertical wind turbines fitting our clients’ needs, which are suitable for both onshore and offshore application.

State-of-the-art design

The Helix-Type Turbine offers an optimal design capable of capturing omni-directional winds which provide renewable energy in a safe and sustainable way. The combination of glass fibre reinforced polymer material and the electromechanical disc brake including control system completes this state-of-the-art design. An ideal solution for reliable renewable energy at locations that cannot be served by other renewable energy technologies such as solar or traditional wind turbines.

Reducing operational costs

This robust, cost-effective, low-maintenance and easy-to-install solution is an excellent alternative to diesel or gas driven electricity generation. An exemplary choice for reducing operational costs. Furthermore, it complies with strict environmental and emission restrictions.

Hybrid Power System with Solar Panels and Helix Type Wind Turbine on NAM Shell’s K83 offshore platform

The K83 platform will be the fourth platform of NAM Shell in the North Sea to have the VONK Hybrid Power System to supply the necessary power. Additional to the array of solar panels, this platform is also equipped with a Helix Type Wind Turbine. VONK has designed an efficient converter for this wind turbine, with limited losses and fast reaction to wind changes. The converter is monitored and coupled to the VONK Power Management System. The turbine provides a rated power of 3 kW and will start producing energy from as little as 4 Beaufort wind force.
