Hybrid Power System on Platforms of Shell ONEgas
Reducing Cost whilst increasing Availability
At VONK, we understand that every client is unique, which is why we evaluate each business case individually to identify the best possible solution. This approach was applied for Shell, where we streamlined the Leman Echo, Bravo, and Delta platforms of Shell ONEgas UK, resulting in the removal of unnecessary equipment and a significant reduction in overall power demand.
We developed our Hybrid Power System, which utilizes solar power as a renewable energy source and requires only a biannual maintenance inspection. This plug-and-play system has successfully reduced operational costs and CO2 emissions by over 95%. For the Leman platform systems, we also incorporated a backup diesel generator connected to the power management system, ensuring 99.99% availability.

Battery Energy Storage Systems in the Oil and Gas Industry
A key application of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is in the oil and gas industry, where large gas turbines or engines generate power for various processes, both offshore and onshore. In this context, a BESS can replace one of the gas-driven power generators and eliminate the need for backup diesel generators. It effectively acts as a peak shaver for the remaining gas generators, significantly reducing maintenance and fuel costs while greatly contributing to the decarbonization of your plant’s industrial processes.
Additional Applications of BESS
BESS also offers a range of other applications, including congestion management, monetizing daily power imbalances, and providing frequency response. Additionally, BESS can be utilized in standalone off-grid microgrids or mobile power applications, such as outdoor events and construction sites.
